Wor. Bro. Dr. Philip Norman Griffin SAH, OBE, PAGDC, OGR, OGCR

Wor. Bro. Dr. Griffin was born October 20th 1926.  He is an alumnus of the Dominica Grammar School and University of Sheffield where he trained as a medical doctor, graduating in 1953.  He subsequently specialised in Anaesthesiology. 

 

His entire professional life has been spent in public service as a medical doctor in Dominica and as an Anaesthetist at the Princess Margaret Hospital, Dominica.  His reputation for integrity and care among his patients, and for competence among his colleagues is unsurpassed.  He was awarded Officer in the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1975 and the Dominica Sisserou Award of Honour (SAH) in 2006.

 

Bro Griffin was initiated, passed and raised in 1956 and has served his Lodge with distinction and assiduity in all its offices.  He has occupied the chair in the East on three occasions (1967, 1986 and 2007).  He was awarded Overseas Grand Rank in 1984 and became a Grand Officer in 2005.

He is also a founding member and distinguished past 1st Principal of St. George Chapter 3421 having been exalted in January 1975 and becoming 1st Principal in 1979.  He again occupied that chair in 2004.

Wor. Bro. Dr. Griffin is the oldest subscribing member of the Lodge.  Having last served as Lodge Mentor in 2019, he continues to support the Lodge and its members providing advice and information whenever called upon.  His life and masonic career is an inspiration to the current members and will continue to be so to those yet to come.
